Lorenzo, a barrister since 1980, over the years has appeared in every tribunal or court which deals with migration cases including the High Court & the Federal Courts. CPD Workshops & General Information
We have settled the dates for the 10 to 12 point CPD workshops from now until mid 2010. Migration agents in their first year of practice have to complete the 4 mandatory CPD Modules, namely “Accounts Management”, “Business Management”, “Ethics & Professional Practice” and “File Management”. Migration agents beyond their first year of practice must do one of those mandatory modules. Whichever category you are in, you will be able to satisfy all of MARA’s requirements at all of our CPD workshops.
First year agents, are advised to do the full 12 points as a knowledge builder. All agents are required to complete a total of 10 CPD points (at least 6 core points).
The mandatory modules are ‘Business Management’, ‘Accounts Management’, ‘Ethics & Professional Practice’ and ‘File Management’. We offer these modules at all of our seminars for first year migration agents (compulsory).
Beach Side Workshops: To mix work and pleasure, note our Noosa and Gold Coast conferences on the beach in May 2010 and June 2010 and our overseas workshops are based in Hong Kong 23 & 24 March 2010 & Lake Como 13 & 14 July 2010.
ETA Business Long Validity Visas: The travel agency associated with the conference business has developed the software tools to process ETA business long validity visas, by-passing direct contact with DIAC (this is authorised by DIAC).
Most recently the travel agency obtained instant ETA visas for 4 European residents valid for multiple entry for the life of their passports which extended until 2013! On these business ETA’s the visa holder can stay for a maximum of 3 months at a time (see the attached flyer for all the details including a list of ETA-eligible passport countries). Many travel agencies do not know how to do this properly leaving the client with either a single entry visa or worse, a tourist visa.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR LAWYERS: We are accredited providers for the QLD law society and on our reading of the rules these migration workshops qualify for points for the Law Institute of Victoria, WA Law Society and NSW Law Society, continuing education requirements.
Continuing Professional Education Pty Ltd has now been approved as a QA Provider with the Legal Practice Board of Western Australia. MARA now requires lawyers with practicing certificates in Qld, NSW & Victoria to do only 6 CPD points (not 10 CPD points) & they are NOT required to do any mandatory modules. For lawyers we recommend doing 8 points – Migration Update is a comprehensive round up of recent changes in migration law, the other 3 modules are great knowledge builders.
We offer 8 points (4 modules) for $595 or 6 points (3 modules) for $495. Agents who have a current legal practicing certificate as a legal practitioner issued by the ACT, WA, SA or TAS need to complete 10 CPD points, including ONE of these mandatory modules.
CORRESPONDENCE COURSES NOW AVAILABLE
Kindly note for future reference we also offer 12 CPD points via correspondence. Cost is $990.00 for 10 CPD points (including regular postage & handling, extra for international or express post). The Business Management and Ethics & Professional Practice modules are mandatory modules available via correspondence.
CANCELLATION POLICY: In the event that you cancel your registration at the last minute it is transferable to one of our other CPD seminars free of charge, however if a refund is requested then a $100.00 administration charge is applicable.
